Please note: Larger ball valves (from 2.5" on up) can be pretty hard to turn. I have found this with all plastic ball valves of all manufacturers. Do not spray silicone or any other lubricant onto the ball. Most lubricants will harm the ball and will not help the plastic ball valve to turn easier; most silicones have actually damaged the plastic. Never use grease, faucet grease or any lubricant not specifically designed for plastics. Once it is installed on the pipe, you will find that it will be much easier to turn. Large plastic ball valves are simply not easy to turn. Do attempt to close and open the valve when it is not installed!
