C280 Brass also known as "Muntz Metal", nominally contains 60% copper, and 40% zinc. The importance of this alloy is its color, which is essentially that of architectural bronze. Alloy 280 is stronger, harder, and more rigid than brasses of lesser zinc content. C280 work hardens rapidly, and so is less adapted to cold work. However it may be bent or formed readily enough.
